Shawn's Story

On Satuday 8/21, R/C will be holding their last RCRocs Competition for 2010. All day, during this event, raffle tickets will be sold for some nice prizes. There will also be some other special events going on that day, after the main competition. STAY TUNED FOR MORE DETAILS Very Happy.

On Sunday 8/22, there will be a Memorial Trail Ride with guides provide by BMJA and R/C. We are working on some special events for this day as well. STAY TUNED FOR MORE DETAILS Very Happy.

Shawn was a great guy and if any of you knew him, you would agree that he would help with anything if asked. Now he needs our help!!!! Let's show how this sports comes together for special events by having a great turnout on Saturday and Sunday. Please pass this ride on to everybody you know and encourage them to show their support. STAY TUNED FOR MORE DETAILS Very Happy

Once the details for the "special events" are worked out, I will post more info. here. We want this to be a HUGE event, so pass the word.

I just received a message from Jim Diamond of Diamond Jeep Parts, he has posted this on several military forums for us. Lets get the word out - Make this a big even for Shawns family. BMJA greatly appreciates, as I'm sure so does Shawns family, the work and effort put forth by every one.

Unfortunately, this has been scheduled when I will be away. I very much wish I could participate and guide a group, but it just won't work out for me. I do hope the turn out is large.

Should be a great event! Does anyone know if any flyers are being created/printed? made electronic? that we can post up and hand out. I know a lot of car part places around here would be them up and there may be some ways we can promote it off the web. Would be nice to have something up in the R/C office too.

1. Bryan and Brenda
2. Ray
3. Jim and Karen
4. Jay and Ang(? not sure I can make the ride, but Jay should be there)

Come on peeps! This is for a great cause!

Here are two of the special events for Satuday, after RCRocs.

Bruce wrote:

OK guys we have a twist of something fun for you after the shoot out. At the same time you will be supporting a good cause. As some of you know BMJA lost a club member just last month to a freak accident. Shawn Laity left behind a wife and child so we are going to have some fun and raise some money for his family.

Here is the deal for after the event. Each class will have a chance to run a “capture a cone” course. This idea is borrowed from Clayton with his event in New England (thanks Clayton). Each class will have its own area where the goal is to hit as many cones with the tires. Each cone counts as a point with bonus cones also on each course.

Anyone who wants to try this event will be charged $30 with $20 going to Shawn’s family and $10 going to the pot for the winner.

Then after that event is all said and done Mr Rose will be heading up his “Hands Climb” event. (more details to come on that also)

So plan on hanging out all day and enjoy the days events, Pauly’s cooking and some great action.

Bruce
